Mission Statement – To foster stable and thriving communities in southeastern Iowa by administering vital rent subsidy programs that ensure dignified and affordable housing options for eligible residents.
Area XV stands as the dedicated housing authority for a significant portion of southeastern Iowa, encompassing the counties of Mahaska, Keokuk, Washington, Lucas, Monroe, Wapello, Jefferson, Wayne, Appanoose, Davis, and Van Buren. Established to address the critical need for affordable housing within this extensive region, Area XV plays a vital role in administering federal and potentially state-level housing assistance programs. Its primary mission is to ensure that eligible low-income individuals, families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities within these eleven counties have access to safe, decent, and affordable housing options.

Area XV Multi-County Housing Agency
Area XV establishes and enforces eligibility criteria for its programs, ensuring that assistance reaches those most in need across its considerable service area. Like all housing authorities, Area XV operates under the oversight of a local board of commissioners and adheres to regulations set forth by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Housing Choice Voucher Program
Section 8 enables low-income families, seniors, veterans, and the disabled to afford private housing of their choice through rental subsidies paid to landlords.
